“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
Beautiful dachshund, Roxie Charlene Kwan, was born on April 24th, 2005, in British Columbia. She was selected from her litter by father, Wally Kwan, and was a surprise present to his children, Jennifer and Andrew… and a shock to his wife, Pauline.
Since 2005, Roxie has touched the hearts of so many humans. Whether it was peeing in excitement when a human friend came to visit or waddling to someone and turning on her side for belly rubs, she loved all humans.
Roxie was an incredibly intelligent dachshund. She knew how to work a kitchen and get human food instead of kibble. She picked up pretty quickly that the best providers of human food would be her favourite babysitter, Penny. But she could also always count on Pauline too, especially during Roxie’s last years when Walmart potato chips became her favourite snack of choice.
After eating her multiple meals and snacks, she would spend time relaxing on the couch and watching all of the latest and greatest television shows. Roxie would alternate between lying on the couch in the warmest and sunniest spot and sitting on Wally’s lap. However, Wally made her do weird dances that showed off her curvy figure.
Roxie developed a strong bond with Jennifer and Andrew, two humans who watched her constantly and trained her to do fun tricks when she was a young puppy.
She travelled to Prince George to see where her human, Jennifer, was going to university. Roxie loved road trips, especially over ten whole hours with all of her family.
Roxie could always count on Andrew for a fun and active time. Andrew would take her for fun adventures at McNair Secondary School and would coach her on how to play hockey. After long walks and games, she would be able to select a treat of her choice depending on how she felt. Andrew also introduced Roxie to a new human, Julia, who would give her long belly rubs.
Roxie was a strong dog throughout her whole life. She was normally teased for being an overweight dachshund, but her full curves saved her when she was attacked by a vicious dog in the neighbourhood. No matter the situation, Roxie would always be tough and strong, because of the bond and love that she had with her family.
Roxie lived a full and happy life because of the family that she had. She is survived by loving family: Wally, Pauline, Jennifer, Andrew, Penny, Julia, and Holland, and will be remembered by so many people.
The family appreciates all of the kind thoughts during this difficult time.
Godspeed Roxie
Hope you have a wonderful time chasing butterflies and sniffing dandelions in your new home. Also hope you meet Ollieoscar and become great friends in doggie heaven.
